The Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class (codename CL203) is a luxury compact car to be produced by the Mercedes Car Group division of Daimler AG from 2008.
The car is a three-door liftback. The first generation was based on the W203 C-Class and sold as the C-Class Sportcoupé. The Sportcoupé was eventually spun off into its own separate line called the CLC-Class, but it still based on the W203 platform, with an updated front end inspired by the one of the W204 C-Class.
Originally, the Sportcoupe was made to counter the BMW Compact, but although this car is no longer produced by BMW, Mercedes has decided to keep the Sportcoupé, though modernizing it and giving it a separate range. Mercedes found that the Sportcoupé was a popular first Mercedes for new customers, 40 per cent of whom reportedly return to buy more expensive models later on.
The car will be produced in Brazil at the company’s plant in Juiz de Fora, close to the state border with Rio de Janeiro.
The car was presented at the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, which took place from the 27th to 31st of January 2008.

A couple of weeks ago, Mercedes presented the 2008 CLC-Class which is destined to replace and to be a successful successor of the C-Class Sports Coupe. The new model is based on the old one, but the new generation looks good so they probably knew what to do with the design.
The sharp face of the new CLC, the taillights and the interior are the most important upgrades and they rely on these qualities to revive the C-Class. The car features communication and navigation system which can be voice-operated, also iPod integration and microSD card-slot can be an entertainment.
For the C-Class, Mercedes prepared four engines, two gas and two diesel, both with the latest technology in fuel economy. Customers can choose from three different gearbox configurations, six-speed manual, five-speed automatic for 4-cylinders engine and the famous seven-speed automatic gearbox for 6-cylinders engine. Also buyers can opt for a sports package which consists of 18-inch wheels and paddle shifters for automatic transmission.
Mercedes-Benz announced that the cars will be available for shipping for European market as of May 2008.
