The Volvo XC60 is a concept car revealed by Volvo at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. According to Wheels24, the Premier Automotive Group had planned to reveal the compact crossover SUV to the public in late 2006. It is scheduled to go on sale for the 2009 model year. Then Volvo would assemble the XC60 with already proven gasoline- and diesel-burning engines. Further, the XC60 would share technology with the Land Rover Freelander of 2007, using a modified version of the Volvo P24- platform. The Land Rover LR3 will set the stage for these corporate siblings to enter the market, as much of the engineering and tuning of this CUV was done by Volvo in Sweden, only offroad capabilities were done at Land Rover in England. The Volvo XC60 was officially revealed before the Geneva Motor Show as a production vehicle hitting the streets of Europe in 2008 and North American in 2009.[1] It features Volvo's T6 I6 turbocharged 281 hp engine, Haldex AWD.
The new Volvo XC60 is the first vehicle in a new generation of the contemporary cross-over concept. It is a combination of a traditional city vehicle and an XC vehicle aimed for young, professional urban people with an active life. Volvo XC60 is a sporty and dynamic car with tasteful exterior and interior design and versatile functionality.
Of course, a Volvo car wouldn't be a Volvo without the safety features and the 2009 Volvo XC60 is equipped with the most advanced Volvo safety feature to date—City Safety. The City Safety feature on the XC60 can automatically apply the brakes on the car if it detects that it will collide with the vehicle in front in low-speed situations like in city traffic.
All 2009 Volvo XC60 will have the turbocharged T6 engine which can produce 284 horsepower and the All Wheel Drive with Instant Traction.
The 2009 XC60 will be available in Europe in the Fall of 2008 and in the North American market in early 2009.
